I absolutely love the way you have the light shining through the trees. It's very eye-catching and works well against the bright blue sky.
Still, this photo is a little too busy for me. There's too much to look at and it's distracting. If you want to make the sun the focal point, try cropping out the bottom half of the picture. It would really focus the attention to the sun and get rid of all the distracting extra foliage. Also, editing the leaves to brighten them up would be an improvement. It would allow me to really see the cool lighting effects that are difficult to see as it is now.
Great shot, has a lot of potential!
